Shannon has recently completed both the Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Graduate Certificate and the Advanced Social Work Practice Graduate Certificate through the University of Calgary. Being successful in earning the aforementioned graduate certificates has provided Shannon the opportunity to focus on topics that she is passionate about. Shannon is currently completing the third and final year of her Master’s Degree specializing in Clinical Social Work through the University of Calgary.

Shannon has been a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2007. She started her career working at first and second-stage shelters with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. For the past decade, Shannon has been working within the public health sector as a Mental Health Therapist. She has provided services to children, youth, and families impacted by moderate to severe mental health and addictions concerns. Shannon’s education and work experience, along with being a mom of twins, has come to shape Shannon’s practice.

Shannon Martin holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in Clinical Practice. Along with, graduate certificates encompassing Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health and Advanced Social Work Practice. Shannon has been in good standing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2007 and has been authorized to perform restricted psychosocial interventions since 2012.

Shannon works with people across the lifespan from a framework rooted in attachment. Over the years Shannon has completed training ranging from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, Biofeedback, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. In this, Shannon has an integrative practice that draws from evidence-based approaches to help meet individual needs in a playful, empathetic, trauma-informed, and collaborative manner.

Shannon’s special interests encompass anxiety, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder across the lifespan, emotional overwhelm, burnout and self-compassion, along with helping individuals explore and heal relationships with self and food.
